866. The sine of the acute angle of a right triangle is ${\displaystyle \frac{3}{5}}$, and the hypotenuse is 10 yd. Find the triangle's legs.

Знайти: AC, BC.

Розв'язання

sin A = ${\displaystyle \frac{\mathrm{BC}}{\mathrm{AB}}}$, тоді ${\displaystyle \frac{\mathrm{BC}}{\mathrm{AB}}}$ = ${\displaystyle \frac{3}{5}}$.

Нехай BC = 3x yd, тоді AB = 5x yd.

AB = 10 yd;

5x = 10;

x = 2.

BC = 3 · 2 = 6 yd.

△ABC (∠C = 90°):

AC² = AB² – BC².

AC² = 10² – 6² = 100 – 36 = 64; AC = 8 yd.
